Years later, after playing a few other open world games, I decided to revisit GTA3. Put it in the cabinet under my TV and forgot about it. Played it for about 3-4 hours, long enough to prove it wasn't my cup of tea. Eventually he convinced me that I would love it if I just gave it a chance and I bought my own copy. As for the game itself, my friend made it mission in life to get me onboard, I remember he made me borrow his copy and then demanded it back after a couple days. Good job fuck heads." I honestly thought they were going to do major damage to gaming. They've always been in the wrong, but now you dipshits go and make the game they always wanted, the game that will now finally allow them to make their point. I'd been gaming since the 70s, so I thought "Ever since I was a kid there have been these idiotic 'concerned parent groups' trying to get video games banned because they 'erode morals' and other such bullshit. It didn't offend me personally, but I really thought it was a huge mistake. And as far as all of the edgy stuff like being able to hire a hooker, fuck her, and then kill her and get your money back, it just made me roll my eyes so hard. At the time I just couldn't wrap my head around the whole open world thing, it just seemed overly bloated and pointless. I had zero interest in it, my friend got it for his birthday (it had been out for about a month) and we all watched him play it for a while that night. Great place man, a staple of my childhood gaming habits. That shop later moved 20 miles away and stayed open for about a year before it shut down. That shop was the first time I'd ever seen aa NeoGeo pocket color in person. You could rent games, consoles and just play import Dreamcast\PS2 games for a couple bucks an hour. Nice guy and that was a fantastic independent game shop. I bought many a (not M rated) game there as a kid and he always put them in regular old plastic bags before that.
The owner proceeded to put the game in a small brown paper bag like it was drugs or some shit, lol.
Owner: *blank stare for a few seconds followed by chuckle* "Alright, lets ring it up!" My last stop was a local mom and pop game store that was owned and run by an older guy. I went to K MART, Target, EB Games and no one would sell it to me because I wasn't 17.
